Dr. Welland is the Chief Data Officer of Gusto, a leading payroll and HR software firm. Prior to Gusto, Dr. Welland led a global team of data scientists, data engineers, business analysts and technical program managers at Google Cloud. He serves as a Professor of Data Science, School of Engineering & Computer Science, at the University of the Pacific. Previously, Dr. Welland led data & analytics for PayPal, Pandora, Pacific Gas and Electric Company. Dr. Welland serves on the national board of directors of the YMCA of the USA. He received his Ph.D. and masters degrees from the University of Michigan, and a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
