Session 12-C

The Impact of Metadata on Data Quality

← Back to Agenda

Metadata is the basis for all kinds of data science workflows in an organization, e.g., assessing data quality, finding the right data for analytics, or verifying access security. Thus, data catalogs have emerged from a nice to have metadata management tool to a key requirement in organizations. Due to the variety of data catalogs, CDOs and data leaders are often unsure which tool is best suited for their needs. Thus, this talk will shed light on the latest metadata management research to compare the advantages and disadvantages of current data catalog tools. I will conclude the talk with lessons learned from our industry collaborations and explain why it is essential to build a comprehensive data governance strategy around the deployment of a data catalog. The audience is encouraged to present and discuss their experience with specific data catalog tools or the deployment of a metadata management strategy in this session.
