Session 14-F

Using a Data Mesh architecture to build a sustainable knowledge graph for a mega construction project.

← Back to Agenda

The building and construction sector is responsible for 38% of global energy and process related carbon dioxide emissions. Opportunities to reduce carbon and environmental impacts dramatically reduce after project planning and design phases. Access to internal and external data sources to build data domains that reflect the business nomenclature and industry standards is critical for Designers and Engineers to model construction options that minimize the environmental impact without compromising time, cost and quality metrics. The use of traditional environmental life cycle assessments methods is timing consuming, error prone and lacks transparency. A consortium of leading material and manufacturing experts illustrated through the use of data mesh enabled knowledge graphs to model alternative processes, materials and energy to reduce carbon emissions by 60%.
