Rebecca Friedman, Founder and CEO, Koru Strategies
Rebecca is driven to improve the business of government through innovation, enhanced communication, and collaboration. Rebecca has more than 15 years of experience, including consulting at a leading professional services firm, managing government technology education events and strategic workshop delivery, and project management and execution. She is a self-proclaimed “gov geek” and “people connector” whose goal is to communicate the value of technology and how pivotal it is to drive the business of government.
Rebecca is the Founder and President of Koru Strategies, a public sector business development firm which focuses on government technology. Rebecca previously served as the Media Services Director for Los Angeles County’s Internal Services Department (ISD). Prior to joining ISD, Rebecca worked as a National Conference Director for e.Republic’s Government Technology division an events, media, and research company focused exclusively on state and local government technology and education development. In her five years there, she was responsible for acting as a government and industry liaison for events focused on employee and business development in 11 states, including the State of California. She worked with government and industry technology and innovation leaders and elected and appointed officials in each jurisdiction, leading event planning meetings, developing event agendas aligned with government priorities, securing speakers, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the success of each event. At Deloitte Consulting Rebecca worked on state and local government projects in the US and Canada with a focus on leading change management and training efforts.
Rebecca holds a BA in Communications from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, an MBA from California State University Sacramento, and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) through the Project Management Institute (PMI).
